Strategic Sports S-482 RMR Youth eBike Helmet Wins 2026 Taipei Cycle d&i Gold Award

Another Year, Another Award for Strategic Sports’ RMR Technology

Strategic Sports’ RMR helmet platform has earned yet another major international distinction. This time it’s the new S-482 RMR eBike helmet that has been awarded a Gold Award at the 2026 Taipei Cycle d&i Award, recognizing its combination of safety engineering, circular product design, and relevance to modern urban mobility.

Presented annually during the TAIPEI CYCLE show, the d&i Awards recognize products that demonstrate innovation, industrial impact, and design excellence, with increasing emphasis on sustainability, manufacturability, and real-world application. Winning products are featured in a dedicated exhibition area that serves as a first stop for visiting buyers and media, with additional international exposure through the program’s affiliation with the iF DESIGN AWARD.

“This award reflects how the industry is evolving,” says Norman Cheng, Managing Director of Strategic Sports. “Design today has to work at scale, perform in real use, and account for what happens at the end of a product’s life.”

The S-482 is built around Strategic Sports’ RMR system: Removable, Modular, and Recyclable, an adhesive-free helmet architecture designed to enable clean material separation at end of life. By replacing permanently bonded construction with a snap-fit modular system, RMR addresses one of the helmet industry’s most persistent sustainability challenges.

Manufactured from recycled and recyclable materials including rABS, rEPS, and rPET, the S-482 extends an RMR platform already recognized across multiple international design and innovation awards. Earlier RMR models include the S-460, past recipient of the 2024 Red Dot Design Concept Award, 2025 Red Dot Design Award and a 2025 ISPO Award, as well as the S-427, winner of the 2024 German Design Award and Australian Good Design Award.

“What we’ve proven through the S-427 and S-460 is that sustainability has to be engineered into the structure, not added later,” Cheng explains. “RMR gives us a consistent foundation that can be adapted across riding categories without compromising that principle.”

While the S-460 established RMR in the urban cycling category, the S-482 applies the same architecture to eBike use, addressing higher-speed riding conditions and evolving regulatory requirements in certain markets. The helmet is eBike-certified and features a removable, rechargeable LED rear light to improve visibility in low-light environments.

As a youth-sized eBike helmet, the S-482 enters the market at a critical moment. The rapid growth of high-powered eBikes has placed younger riders into faster, more complex traffic environments. “We want to be part of the solution,” Cheng says. “By offering a youth-sized, eBike-certified helmet with a real sustainability story, we’re addressing both safety and the reality that kids outgrow helmets quickly.”

Safety performance is delivered through a combination of proven EPS construction and Strategic Sports’ proprietary ERT™ energy-management system, a low-density polymer layer engineered to reduce linear and rotational energy in common real-world impact scenarios and validated through independent laboratory testing.

“Our mission has always been protecting life,” Cheng adds. “That means engineering helmets that go beyond minimum certification requirements while pushing boundaries with materials, manufacturing, and end-of-life responsibility.”

With the S-482 RMR eBike helmet, Strategic Sports continues to build on an award-winning platform, extending its approach to safety engineering and circular design into one of cycling’s fastest-growing segments and earning Gold-level recognition on one of the industry’s most visible global stages.
