Concept & Illustration

From designer illustrations to 3D printed models, our R&D and engineering teams meticulously develop helmets that meet the highest quality standards and customer expectations with consideration of the tooling strength, impact testing restrictions and other factors. In the initial design phase, our design team creates concepts based on the design brief presented by the client. A series of 2D design illustrations is sent to the client for review and client feedback ensures the right design solution is met.

Clay & Shaping

Once the 2D concept is approved by the client, our design team then creates a full sized design clay master based on the 2D concept. In this 3D clay phase, the design can be evaluated more accurately than in the 2D phase. Real world parameters such as testing requirements and manufacturability can be evaluated in this 3D clay phase. As with the previous initial design phase, the Strategic team consults with the client through a series of clay design reviews in order to ensure that the design integrity is maintained. Once the client approves the 3D clay master, it is sent to the factory for the next step in the process.

3D Scan & Rendering

Once the clay model is created and approved by the client, it is scanned and our engineers go to work on the surfaces. As helmets have multiple angles and surface curvatures, this process requires expertise which can consider tooling strength and impact testing restrictions. The Strategic team consults with our clients throughout the development phases.

Tooling

Once the 3D rendering is finalized and approved, we move on to molding and tooling. Strategic is unique in that we produce all EPS tooling files and molds in-house. In addition, all our plastic components are made in-house with injection molding presses. ISO requirements are followed to achieve best production results.

Testing

Our in-house labs put products and incoming materials through a gauntlet of vigorous tests including impact resistance, accelerated weathering for product lifespan and many others. Batch samples are also tested throughout the production cycle. This multi-point quality control system ensures that the product quality and integrity are protected.

Graphics Selection

When a helmet meets the client’s approval it’s time to choose graphics to bring more life to the design. Whether choosing from open graphics, designing custom art, or having one of our team create the helmet graphics for you, your options have very few boundaries. From our full colour in-mold printing to waterslide decals, we take great care in the quality and clarity of our printing.

Paint & Materials Selection

Once you have chosen a graphic or prefer to keep your helmet simple, the next step is selecting paint, materials and accessories. From the straps and buckles to the retention system and padding, you will be offered every possible colour, texture and material option for designing at every detail. With a near limitless options in colours, you can make as loud or understated a look you wish.

Sampling & Review

Nearing the last stages of your helmets development, we mock up a helmet including the package design you want. Whether it’s working out the final details with you in our factory or by shipping samples to you for confirmation, our goal is ensuring that you are fully satisfied with your helmet before production.

Production

Our manufacturing facilities support small and large volumes as well as simultaneous production of multiple helmet SKUs and components. The Strategic team along with our engineering capabilities and automated systems ensures that each helmet delivered is impeccable and enables us to meet tight timelines and the demands of the evolving headgear market.
