Independent Recognition for the Testing Behind Every Helmet we Make
Making world-class safety gear serious business, and a precision process. Every helmet is the result of hundreds of decisions about materials, geometry, fit and manufacturing, and each one has to be proven before it reaches a rider. That proof comes from rigorous testing.
Now the Strategic Sports lab where much of that work happens has earned an important independent endorsement.
The Laboratory of Dongguan Strategic Sports Co., Ltd. has been accredited by the China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment (CNAS) under ISO/IEC 17025:2017, the international standard for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories. The accreditation (Registration No. CNAS L26691) took effect on October 19, 2026, and runs through October 18, 2032.
To earn ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation, a lab must show independent assessors that its people, methods, equipment and quality systems consistently deliver valid, reliable results. CNAS is a signatory to the ILAC and APAC Mutual Recognition Arrangements, so its accreditations are recognized by partner accreditation bodies around the world.
“Our customers are world-class brands, and they trust us to design and manufacture helmets to the highest standard,” says Norman Cheng, Managing Director of Strategic Sports. “We want to be transparent about the quality of our work. Inviting a respected independent body to inspect our testing process and confirm it meets that standard is part of that commitment.”
Testing at the Heart of Strategic's Global Strategy
The accreditation strengthens a key part of Strategic's 2026 to 2030 global strategy. Innovation is one of our five pillars, and every new material, technology and design from Strategic's R&D team depends on in-house testing to move from concept to production.
Testing is a key aspect of developing cutting edge helmets both in terms of safety and performance. With factories in China, Vietnam and Portugal positioned to serve customers close to their markets, product development, testing and tooling take place in China before validated molds move to Vietnam. Accredited testing at the start of that process helps ensure a helmet meets the same standard wherever it is built.
"Protecting Life starts long before a helmet reaches a rider," Cheng says. "It starts in our lab."
Since Cheng and his father, Philip Cheng, founded the company in 1991, Strategic has produced more than 250 million helmets for riders in 88 countries. With CNAS accreditation in place, the brands Strategic serves have one more reason for confidence in every helmet that leaves its factories.
