Family and Tradition at the Strategic Sports Dragon Boat Festival

Every year, the Dragon Boat Festival offers an opportunity to celebrate one of China's oldest traditions. This year, Strategic Sports marked the occasion by opening the doors of our Dongguan and Huizhou campuses to employees and their families for an afternoon filled with hands-on activities, shared meals, and plenty of fun.

Rather than a formal program, the day was designed for families to experience the festival together. Children and parents created traditional fragrance sachets, learned the art of wrapping zongzi, and joined colleagues in games that brought together teammates from across the business.

"The Dragon Boat Festival is about more than tradition," said Strategic Sports Managing Director Norman Cheng. "It's an opportunity to spend time together as families and as colleagues. We wanted to create a day where everyone could slow down, enjoy each other's company, and celebrate something meaningful."

Throughout the afternoon, familiar festival customs took on new life. At the sachet workshop, parents and children stitched colorful pouches together while sharing stories behind the tradition. Nearby, teammates who might normally only exchange greetings on the production floor worked side by side learning to wrap zongzi, with every handmade creation heading home with the family who made it.

One of the day's biggest highlights proved to be a watermelon-eating contest, where cheers, laughter, and a little friendly competition quickly drew a crowd.

The celebration also created opportunities for employees from different departments to connect in ways that don't often happen during a normal workday, allowing colleagues to meet each other’s families and share conversations beyond their daily responsibilities.

"Our business is built by people," Cheng said. "Taking time to celebrate together reminds us that the relationships we build are just as important as the work we accomplish every day. It’s also important to connect over our shared traditions, like the 2,000 year old Dragon Boat Festival.”

Following the event, employees shared feedback, with many highlighting the chance to celebrate alongside their families and introduce younger generations to Dragon Boat Festival traditions. Others appreciated the opportunity to spend time with colleagues outside of the workplace in a relaxed, informal setting.

As Strategic Sports continues to grow, celebrations like the Dragon Boat Festival remain an important part of the company's culture, bringing together teammates, families, and traditions that have been passed down through generations.
