Strategic Sports Continues Commitment to Climate Change Action with SBTi Targets Validation

In March of 2023, the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) officially validated Strategic Sports’ Near Term Targets reaffirming Strategic Sports' commitment to climate action and natural resource preservation.

Strategic Sports, a global manufacturer of bicycle, motorcycle, snow sports and equestrian helmets, drafted its Science Based Targets (SBTs) to address a 1.5°C global warming threshold. With these targets, the company committed to reducing absolute scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 42% between 2019 and 2029 and scope 3 GHG emissions by 51.6% per helmet in the same timeframe. Strategic Sports also pledged to adopt 100% active sourcing of renewable electricity by 2030, up from 0% in 2019.

The SBTi is a partnership between CDP, the United Nations Global Compact, World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). The SBTi call to action is one of the commitments of the We Mean Business Coalition, a group of nearly 4,000 global companies committed to climate change.

“Validation of our Near Term Targets from SBTi confirms that of Strategic Sports is dedicated to fighting climate change and on the right path, but there is more work to be done,” Norman Cheng, President and Founder of Strategic Sports LTD, said. “We will continue working toward our goal of minimizing our impact on the planet.”
